For the 2023 #ConsentMattersSFU campaign, SFU’s Sexual Violence Support &amp; Prevention Office is hosting Consent Beyond Binaries, a conversation with queer nonbinary writer, coach and facilitator Kali Boehle-Silva, and somatic educator, award-winning speaker, author, restorative justice advocate, and lesbian Jewish feminist, Marlee Liss. Marlee and Kali will share their perspectives on practicing consent and will dive into the complexities and limitations of the yes/no binary that has emerged in mainstream conversations about consent. Together, let&#x27;s move beyond this binary to imagine new possibilities of developing mutual agreements, consent and healthy relationships. T﻿his event is free and open to everyone.G﻿uest Speaker Bios:Kali Boehle-Silva is a white, queer + nonbinary writer, anticapitalist coach, and facilitator. They study systems of harm like capitalism, white supremacy, and neoliberalism, and ask what we might learn from our bodies, our relationships, and the earth about making a different kind of world together. Their facilitation and coaching are grounded in questions, stories, and somatic practices that help people identify the binary ways systems work in and on and between us, and the skills needed to live in ways that move us toward reciprocity, connection, and repair. Kali comes from European colonizers, settlers, and immigrants who worked with their hands, lived near water, and who chose allegiance to systems of harm and whiteness over collective care and struggle. They have their grandmother’s laugh, and her love of trees. Follow Kali on Instagram @both_and_neither Marlee Liss (she/her) is a somatic educator, award-winning speaker, author, restorative justice advocate and lesbian Jewish feminist. She made history in the justice system when her sexual assault case became the 1st in North America to conclude with restorative justice through the courts. Since then, she has coached hundreds of women and non-binary folk in healing shame and transforming trauma. Marlee&#x27;s work has been featured in Forbes, Huff Post, Buzzfeed, the Mel Robbins Show and more.
