About this event
Get your questions answered and learn the nuances of balcony gardening, with this by-donation workshop.
With food prices rising quickly, now is the best time to learn how to grow a delectable array of fruit, veggies, and even medicinal herbs.
Small-space living, where a balcony or patio is the sum total of the outside space, is becoming more and more common, and needn’t be a barrier to growing your own food; so let us teach you how!
This workshop will cover:
- How to decide what to grow
- The best plant options for containers and which types of containers to use
- Which plants for growing in extreme sun or shade conditions
- How to position your pots - working with the elements
- Watering tips and tricks; how to reduce watering requirements in our hot climate
- Growing up: design tips for making the most of the vertical space
There will be 30 minutes held at the end of the presentation for questions.

She brings 15 years experience in teaching gardening, Permaculture, and eco-landscape design techniques. Her main passion is teaching folks how to grow their own food, with an emphasis on building personal resiliency while growing food resilience in the garden as well.
