How and why do contemporary artists portray the body?
We will discuss representations of bodies in a variety of media including photography, sculpture, painting, drawing, video art, installation, performance art, animation & documentaries. We will also explore themes such as gender, sexuality, illness, the environment, race, culture, globalization, and the absent body.
This six week seminar about Contemporary Art and the Body takes place in my living room in Edmonton, Alberta.
Optional readings are provided and there are no assignments. I bake delicious treats for every class.
We will also discuss a series of art documentaries that students will watch prior to each class.
$200 for 6 week course. $35 per class drop in fee. ($150 or $25 per class for limited income)
The fee for the complete seminar is due on January 9, 2017. Fees can be paid via Interac e-Transfer to email@example.com, Eventbrite, and cash or cheque at the first class (if arranged in advance). Drop-in class fees are due during the weekly classes.
