Event Details

How can we create solidarity and connections between the generations?

What strengths would we like to offer one another, and what do we hope to learn from others perspectives?

Join us, along with Robert Nichols and Lisa Lowthers from Common Good Solutions, to talk about intergenerational opportunities in this world café style conversation, and help break down barriers by replacing them with collaboration.

NS Department of Seniors

The Nova Scotia Department of Seniors provides policy leadership and coordination across government to value, promote and support the participation in and contribution by older adults to all aspects of Nova Scotia life.

Nova Scotia has one of the fastest aging populations in Canada. Currently there are more than 330,000 Nova Scotians aged 55 and over. Nearly 200,000 of these are already aged 65 or more. Population projections suggested that by 2030, the number of people over the age of 65 will peak at approximately 260,000 older adults in a total population of less than 900,000 people.

On a day-to-day basis, our work includes:

  • Leading, coordinating, and collaborating with departments across government, on the implementation and monitoring of policies and initiatives in support of the province’s aging population

  • Engaging stakeholders and creating partnerships to support Nova Scotians to grow old in safe, healthy, and age-friendly communities

  • Conducting research and providing policy advice to government on matters related to aging and our aging popultion;

  • Working with the federal and other provincial governments and other national partners to share knowledge and work together to address issues of common interest related to aging populations.
