Event description

Description

Arts & Science Teaching & Learning Community of Practice (CoP)

All tenure- and teaching-stream faculty and other instructors or staff interested in teaching are invited to attend one, some or all CoP sessions.

At CoP sessions, participants meet in a discussion-based forum to share teaching ideas and strategies; a rotating faculty facilitator moderates each session. This professional development opportunity allows faculty to connect across disciplines and identify ways to address their teaching interests and challenges.

Each year, an Academic Coordinator works with colleagues to identify facilitators for each session, and leads the overall direction of the CoP. The Academic Coordinator for 2016-17 is David Roberts (d.roberts@utoronto.ca), Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in the Urban Studies program at Innis College. The Office of the Vice Dean, Teaching & Learning will provide administrative support and lunch to all the CoP sessions.

Faculty members’ attendance at CoP sessions is a professional development activity that can be listed in their Annual Activity Reports or teaching dossiers. On request, my office will provide a letter to attendees confirming their participation in this activity.

I ask you to circulate this memo and schedule broadly to your faculty, and encourage them to RSVP by registering, using the links below, for any sessions they wish to attend. Sessions take place across campus; locations for some sessions are still being finalized but will be sent directly to those who RSVP.

Please direct any comments or questions about the CoP to Professor Roberts. You can also send a request to join the Community of Practice listserv to emily.greenleaf@utoronto.ca to receive updates on sessions throughout the year.
