Event description

Description

Course Description:

  • Let’s admit it, the word ‘core’ has been used and abused in recent years. Its definition has become convoluted and it has lost its true meaning. The reality is, we require the ability to meet the specific demands of our lifestyle regardless of the position we are in. This requires a combination of mobility and relative stiffness in order to provide the foundation necessary for optimal posture, force transfer, and injury reduction. This course has been developed from years of clinical experience working with back pain clients and uses the most up to date research. You will be introduced to a different perspective on core training through a simple, progressive system. Upon completion, you will have the skills necessary to program appropriate core exercises for anyone from post-natal or back pained clients to high-level athletes.

Course Objectives:

  • Analyze the anatomy and function of the spine and core (musculature and subsystems)

  • Examine the role breath plays in core stabilization

  • Investigate the types and causes of back pain

  • Assess core musculature for weakness and imbalance

  • Identify four categories of core training and differentiate testing, requisites and exercise progressions

  • Explore core training categories to various exercise regressions/progressions

  • Apply core training concepts to current program design paradigm

Continuing Education Credits:

  • 4 canfitpro PTS CEC's

  • 0.9 GoodLife BlackBelt Points
