About this Event

Good morning employers!

The Employability Network and The Cornwall and Area Job Fair is pivoting to the virtual world because of Covid-19. Due to current restrictions we are unable to host our usual in person job fair. We still recognize the need to bring together employers and job seekers and hope to do that successfully in a virtual world.

Some communities are hosting virtual job fairs in a live format where employers and job seekers can connect in real time. That is not the format we are choosing to use. We know that many of our local job seekers may not have access to technology or internet access 24/7. Some may need to schedule time at a local library to access the internet. We want to ensure everyone can participate.

Our plan is to work with you to create a great quality video promoting your workplace with a company profile that showcases your work environment and facility, the type of jobs you offer, the skills needed and how to apply. We are working with Jeremy Baxter, a great local videographer who will go to your workplace and work with you to create a recruitment video. This video will be something that you can use as a recruitment tool going forward.

Jeremy will then edit each video with a consistent brand and message which we will use for our virtual job fair. Our virtual job fair will take place on the SDC website on, it’s own branded and professionally created page. Once all videos have been added to this page we plan to run a week long marketing campaign thanks to our sponsors. The marketing campaign will consist of the following:

-Videos will get paid boosting on social media-The website will be promoted across multiple print and online news sources-Videos will be showcased on YourTV Cogeco-A week long radio promotion will take place to drive traffic to the website-Local agencies and partners will share on their websites and social media

Our ask from you is to cover the cost of creating the video. This video will be public but also yours to use going forward. You will be provided with a Youtube link that will be able to be shared and posted freely. Our sponsors have committed to cover the cost of promoting this initiative across Akwesasne, Cornwall and SDG. The total cost of working with our videographer to create a 60 to 90 second video is $160.00

Simply register and pay on this page by September 30th. We will then connect you with Jeremy to set a time and date for the filming. Keep in mind, you or someone from your team will be featured in this video! We will run the campaign once all videos are filmed and edited. The goal is to go live at the end of October or early November.

It should also be noted, after the 2019 job fair we surveyed participating employers and service providers to determine if October was still the best time to host a job fair. You responded by telling us that April was a better time for your recruitment needs. Starting in 2021 our plan is to move our job fair to April if restrictions have been lifted by then.

The Employability Network is looking forward to working with you!
