Event description
Join us as we explore Building Resilience in the IT Enterprise.

About this Event

The Council of IT Executives (CITE) is a Conference Board of Canada run, peer-to-peer network, which brings together senior IT executives from major Canadian organizations in the primary, manufacturing, high-tech and service industries, as well as the public sector.

In today’s rapidly evolving information technology (IT) industry, change, innovation, and the need to stay one step ahead of the nearest competitor are critical. To keep pace and to ensure continued success, organizations must use and develop information technology that is able to adapt and respond to these changes. Increasingly, information executives are called upon to play an integral role in gaining a competitive advantage in a rapidly changing business environment. Participants committed to actively sharing their knowledge and experience.

The theme for the meeting is Building Resilience in the IT Enterprise and we plan to explore the challenges and best practices on how organizations are leveraging information technology to build resilience and keep up with the pace of change, gain a better understanding of how peers are managing information technology and delivering value to their organization now and for the future, examine key strategies to deliver IT excellence and what you can do differently, and network and engage in open and frank discussions with fellow peers in a trusted environment.

Confirmed speakers to date are:

  • Joe AbiDaoud, Vice President, Information Technology, Yamana Gold
  • Anju Virmani, Chief Information Officer, Cargojet Inc.
  • Sarah Green, Director, IT Planning and Programs, Hydro Ottawa Holdings Inc.

Who Should Attend

We bring together senior public and private sector leaders who are responsible for the information technology / information management function. Leaders benefit from participation with other key individuals as they investigate leading edge topics and are willing to add their experience and expertise to discussions resulting in new learnings for all. Participants are committed to enhancing their practices and their organizations’ performance through peer-to-peer networking, professional development opportunities, and research services.

Testimonials

“I’m involved with the Council to engage in frank discussion on current technology challenges with senior IT leaders from various industries in the Canadian business environment. I can bring my own personal and organizational IT issues to the table and receive valuable feedback and insight on industry best practice approaches for addressing them. It is an excellent learning opportunity to break away from the operations and spend time discussing and thinking about the broader strategic and operational IT challenges facing my organization while having a Council of IT leaders at hand to bounce ideas and potential action plans off of.” —Certified Management Accountants of Ontario

“I have been fortunate to be member of the CITE for 8 years, and through this membership, have met IT Executives from across Canada. The CITE network consists of representation from both government and private industry, and though the group is diverse, the IT related issues and topics we face are remarkably the same. This council has provided me with a network of folks that I can reach out to at any time to share experiences with, to ask advice of, or to collaborate with, and that in itself is a benefit to myself and my organization. The meetings have consistently provided me with the opportunity to learn from industry speakers as well as case studies presented by our members, participate in round table discussions, time to network and a nugget or two to take back and apply in my IT shop. I personally feel its a very worthwhile investment of my time and a truly rewarding experience.” —SaskTel
