Courageous Connections in Challenging Times: Reconciliation and Regeneration

Fundamentalisms, extremisms, polarization and ecological catastrophes are on the rise. Confronting these challenges requires addressing historical injustices, systemic inequities and abuses of power yet continuing to develop compassion for ourselves and others as we engage in this work. What are some powerful and diverse ways to do this? What can support people in staying grounded, hopeful and engaged in right action during such times? What should be understood and honoured from the traditional teachings and wisdom stemming from some of the original Nations and caretakers of the lands on Turtle Island?

Join others interested in exploring these questions on September 14th, 2019 from 2-5 pm at the Sacred Lodge at Soul of the Mother near Six Nations through a powerful ceremony, sharing of key prophecies, and coming together to be inspired to step into sacred leadership in our communities. Whether as teachers, artists, healers, parents, public servants, academics, business or community leaders, different dimensions of leadership inspired by traditions rooted in deep wisdom are being called forward in challenging times.

Important forms of leadership that can be taken involve speaking one's truth, connecting across difference, and honouring interconnectedness by standing for the protection of the sacred web of life that sustains us all.

This event will honour the voices, experiences and wisdom of two generations who are lighting and leading the path of wisdom in these times: diverse Turtle Island elders, traditional teachers and residential school survivors, and the youth leaders who are standing up for action on behalf of our planet in the face of climate change. This ceremony and circle will honour the call of the elders to speak truth, find healing and connect across difference. It will also honour the call to action of the next generation to stand together across the globe during the week of September 20th, 2019 for the Global Climate Strikes to initiate the shift to life-sustaining cultures on our planet.

Kahontakwas Diane Longboat and the Council of Soul of the Mother will be leading us in ceremony that day.

This event serves as an important fundraiser for our elders, traditional teachers and residential school survivors to make an important and historic journey to Italy next year to support the work of truth and reconciliation between Indigenous peoples and members of the Catholic faith. The organizers of this event in support of Soul of the Mother, traditional teachers and elders are suggesting a minimum donation of $70 per person for this event, but would like to request more if you are able to do so. However, we will graciously accept what you can offer. No one will be turned away. This groundbreaking trip is being supported by grassroots fundraising alone. If you are bringing younger children, you do not need to pay per person but might consider rounding up your donation if you are able to do so. All participants will be provided with updates on the journey.

All are welcome, but space is limited.

We will be helping to coordinate a carpool. Details will follow once you have registered.
