Event description
Sought-after webinar discussing key understandings and tips on how to manage microaggressions and promote effective communication at work

About this Event

Workplace harassment, bullying, and discrimination at work are a lot more common than many business leaders would like to admit.

A survey by Glassdoor of 1,100 employees found that 61% of employees had witnessed or experienced workplace discrimination based on age, race, gender, or LGBTQ identity.

Some of this is a result of microaggressions, or indirect, often unintentional expressions of racism, sexism, ageism, or ableism. They come out in seemingly innocent comments by people who might be well-intentioned, but are in fact perceived as harmful.

From telling a new female employee that she "looks like a student" to commenting on the "fluent English" of a colleague of colour, microaggressions often exist in the workplace. And they can make a workplace feel uncomfortable, unsafe, and toxic.

How can you identify and stop microaggressions at your workplace? How do you manage and de-escalate conflicts at work that are caused by microaggressions?

On September 23, 2020, Hilda Gan, award-winning workplace culture expert and our President and Chief People Officer of People Bright Consulting, will talk about some key understandings and tips on how to stop microaggressions in your company before it becomes serious, including:

  • What constitutes microaggressions
  • How it can affect your workplace, create a toxic work culture and decrease productivity
  • Your obligations and responsibilities regarding maintaining a safe and supportive work environment
  • How you can stop microaggressions by coaching others on effective communication and conflict de-escalation
