Event description

Description

The Shawnigan Players present: The Cowichan Valley Shakespeare Festival!

Yes, this year for the first time we are putting on TWO Shakespeare classics: A Midsummer Night's Dream AND Macbeth, both directed by Alex Gallacher.

Starting August 2, the Gem O' the Isle will become the hub of all things theatrical in the valley. This is the sixth year in a row The Shawnigan Players are presenting a full live theatre show with a large cast in colourful costumes in the fairy-tale-like surrounding of a small orchard and under the starry sky.

Whether you have seen a show here before or not, prepare to be enchanted by the bright magic of A Midsummer Night's Dream or be thrilled by the murderous plotting of the Macbeths, all in the best possible surroundings for a play of this kind. It's going to be one of the highlights of your summer!

Dates for Macbeth are: Aug. 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 11, 12 at 7:30pm, Matinee Aug. 13 at 2:00pm

Dates for A Midsummer Night's Dream are: Aug. 4, 8, 10 at 7:30pm, Matinee Aug. 6 at 2:00pm

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

No, but Macbeth may not be suitable for small children. Parents use discretion.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking is provided.

What can I bring into the event?

A blanket to sit on, if you prefer. There is limited regular seating on chairs as well. There is food and drink available from the concession stand, which we encourage you to make use of.

What's the refund policy?

Full refund up to 7 days before show date.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, you can show us your ticket on your smartphone. The volunteers have a list with names as well, in case you forgot your ticket.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Yes.

Is it ok if the name on my half-price ticket (Festival Pass) doesn't match the person who attends?

No, because half-price-tickets are only for the original ticket holder(s). You can not buy a half-price ticket on behalf of someone else. Their name would not appear on the list of full-price-ticket holders, therefore they would not be entitled to a ticket at half price and would either have to pay the difference or be refused entry.

If you bought a ticket at regular price, but cannot attend, someone else may use your ticket as if it was theirs.
