Event description

The Shawnigan Players present: The Cowichan Valley Shakespeare Festival!

Merry Wives Tempest

Get ready for the highlight of your summer: TWO Shakespeare classics:

The Merry Wives of Windsor, directed by Alex Gallacher AND

The Tempest, directed by Breann Gallacher.

Starting August 7, the Gem O' the Isle in Cowichan Station (Koksilah Road) will become the hub of all things theatrical in the valley. This is the seventh year in a row The Shawnigan Players are presenting a full live theatre show with a large cast in colourful costumes in the fairy-tale-like surrounding of a small orchard and under the starry sky.

Whether you have seen a show here before or not, prepare to be entertained by the humour of The Merry Wives of Windsor or be captivated by Shakespeare's last play, The Tempest, all in the best possible surroundings for live plays of this kind.

Dates for The Merry Wives of Windsor are: Aug. 7, 9, 11, 15, and 17 at 7:30pm, Matinee Aug. 19 at 2:00pm

Dates for The Tempest are: Aug. 8, 10, 14, 16 and 18 at 7:30pm, Matinee Aug. 12 at 2:00pm

Select the corresponding date for the play of your choice on the right. Look for one of these buttons:

Please pay attention when buying your ticket, because the name of the play is NOT mentioned on it! The date and time determine what show your ticket is for.

Buying one ticket at regular or family price entitles you to the other show at half price! After you have bought either a regular or family ticket to either show, you will receive a confirmation e-mail that contains the coupon code for a 50% discount on the price of the other show. These two tickets together will be your Festival Pass.

Advance Pricing:

Regular ticket for ONE show 20.00 dollars. Family Pass (up to 5 people: 1-2 adults + children) for ONE show 40.00.

Festival pass for BOTH shows for one person: 30.00 dollars. Family Festival Pass (up to 5 people: 1-2 adults + children) for BOTH shows: 60.00.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

No, this is an event for all ages.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking is provided.

What can I bring into the event?

A blanket to sit on, if you prefer. There is limited regular seating on chairs as well. There is food and drink available from the concession stand, which we encourage you to make use of.

What's the refund policy?

Full refund up to 7 days before show date.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, you can show us your ticket on your smartphone. The volunteers have a list with names as well, in case you forgot your ticket.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Is it ok if the name on my half-price ticket (Festival Pass) doesn't match the person who attends?

No, because half-price-tickets are only for the original ticket holder(s). You cannot buy a half-price ticket on behalf of someone else. Their name would not appear on the list of full-price-ticket holders, therefore they would not be entitled to a ticket at half price and would either have to pay the difference or be refused entry.

If you bought a ticket at regular price, but cannot attend, someone else may use your ticket as if it was theirs.
