WHAT YOU'LL BE SUPPORTING BY ATTENDING CRABFEST

The Rotary Club of Kamloops Daybreak has identified two specific programs that proceeds from Crabfest 2019 will go towards. The first is the Starfish Backpack Program, a collaborative effort between, the United Way, School District 73 and the Kamloops Food Bank under their "Feeding the Future" initiative focused on addressing youth hunger in Kamloops. Backpacks are distrupted to school children weekly, with enough food to take home for the weekend to cover two breakfasts, two lunches and two dinners as well as snacks. Last year the Rotary Club of kamloops Daybreak helped scale the program from 40 to 115 backpacks for the 2018/2019 school year. The cost to provide one student with a backpack for the school year is $600. Our goal is to purchase up to 20 new backpacks for the 2019/2020 school year, at a cost of $12,000. More information on this program can be found HERE.

The second program is the BC SPCA Kamloops & District Community Animal Centre, which is currently under construction. The new state-of-the-art Community Animal Centre will include modern wealthfare designs to promote the highest levels of animal health. It will serve as a critical hub for animal cruelty investigations in the region and will include larger indoor/outdoor kennels for dogs and cats, a multi-purpose room for humane education programs, and a spay/neuter clinic. The new Community Animal Centre is slated to open to the public early 2019. The Rotary Club of Kamloops Daybreak has committed to contributing $15,000 to the Community Animal Centre multi-purpose community room where enhanced humane education and youth programming will be provided to our community. More information on the Community Animal Centre can be found HERE.
