Crafted Interiors Talks at the Pipeshop

Tuesday May 22, 6:30 - 8:00pm:

Standing on her Shoulders: What does it mean to be part of a continuum and why is it an important part of my practice?

Join textile artist Michelle Sirois–Silver for the first of two talks being held during Crafted Interiors. Michelle works with textiles creating hand hooked and mixed media works from her studio in Vancouver, Canada.

“Although I work in relative isolation, I am never alone. When I sit down to rug hook I am joined by blood relatives who made quilts and knitted clothing for their families. The teachers who inspired me. Peers who support my work and art practice. And people I’ve never met. “Standing on Her Shoulders” looks at these influencers and how they influence the way I think about the work I make.”

Booking required, 50 places, $15 (admission includes access to view Crafted Interiors) Tea/Coffee & light snacks served. Cash bar. Tickets available as a separate purchase at Eventbrite.

Wednesday May 23, 6:30 - 8:00pm

Your Inner Critic Is A Big Jerk

Danielle Krysa, Founder of The Jealous Curator, has been making things since she was old enough to reach the art supplies on her mother’s studio table. She spent the first twenty years of her life creating and crafting non-stop - until she stopped. In the last year of art school she was crushed by the words of a professor and, soon after, met her incredibly rude inner critic. Danielle has spent the past decade talking with other artists and makers about how to push that snarky inner-dialogue to the side so that we can get back to what we love - making! Danielle’s talk will give you tips and tricks for pushing through creative blocks, quieting that inner voice, and maybe even turning that pesky jerk into an ally. Maybe.

Booking required, 50 places, $15 (admission includes access to view Crafted Interiors) Tea/Coffee & light snacks served. Cash bar. Tickets available as a separate purchase at Eventbrite.
