Event description

Description

Therapy is expensive and relationships are hard, so I teamed up with my co-facilitator Meg (MSW) to share my Very Unique Set of Skills here for all of you to give you a little leg up.

We use a variety of body-based exercises, written resources using experience from your life/relationship, brainstorming and group discussion.

This workshop comes with tiered pricing, and can include a workbook if you choose to buy one. The information is good for anyone of any gender expression and is poly and kink friendly, and can be helpful whether you are currently in a relationship or looking to build skills for your next relationship. I won't lie - this isn't an easy guide as much as it is a simple one. These tactics are tough to stay committed to, but the steps are as straightforward as we can make them.
Being here might be the beginning of your journey, or it might just be another resource to draw on when things are tough, either way, sign up and we can see what we learn together.

About The Facilitators:

Bethany is an educator and performer based in Toronto. She started her journey onstage as a stand-up comedian, and quickly realized that humour and comedy provided a fantastic vehicle to deliver important messages. From her first foray into comedy, she has since performed in venues across Toronto and Canada, produces a monthly queer, POC and woman centric comedy event, writes and directs a webseries and podcast, works with Meg to create and facilitate a series of educational workshops, and provides information and support to her community when needed. Bethany's specialty is easing the way for difficult conversations, and working with people to find ways to make talking about body image, mental health, sexual health, consent, sex work, sex play and intimacy easier and with as much light and levity as she can muster.

Meg MSW, is a sexuality educator and therapist based in Toronto. For over a decade, she has worked in sexuality education, affordable housing activism, HIV awareness and mental health services. She is particularly interested in body-based approaches to healing trauma and believes in the radical possibilities of pleasure, babe. She lives in west Toronto, in a household full of cats and powerful women.

In Their Words:
"I have Bipolar 2 and when I was first diagnosed, I used to obsess over the fact that it's seemingly symptomatic of bipolar disorder that long-term relationships are impossible to maintain and often end in breakups and divorce. Consequently, I spent a lot of time assuming that things would be the same for me, which lead to all kinds of destructive behavior on my part - unsafe sex, involvement in "casual arrangements" that didn't suit me at all, periods of forced celibacy and other rough stuff.

After my period of misguided attempts to adjust to life as a mad spinster, I decided I wanted to date again. I treated it as a project - my therapist and I spent a bunch of time unpacking what hadn't worked in past relationships, and making a list of things that I needed in a relationship. This lead to some very deliberate and dedicated time online dating, and to my absolute luck, I managed to find a person who was wonderful. For a while, I thought that maybe I was the most special and magical of all snowflakes who could just have bipolar everywhere except for in my relationship, and imagined a bright future, happily ever after, with no sign of my mental illness anywhere. But of course, my health did start to take a turn for the worse. Luckily, my therapist and I had been sneakily creating a toolkit of How To Address Conflict, and I was amazed to find that I could actually apply those to my relationship before the boat sunk, and hey! They worked."
