Description

Crazy Quilting with local Madwoman Diane Wood
Sliding Scale (suggested $40) / participant
includes quilt-making supplies
maximum 10 participants

Crazy Quilts were a lively style of patchwork, from scraps, embellished with embroidery, lace and ribbon, popular in the 19th Century. If complicated quilt patterns daunt you, there is no "wrong", whatever you make is "right". Create a small crazy quilt you can use as a pillow cover or wall hanging in a 3 hour workshop with local artist and madwoman Diane Wood. All material is provided, but bring a favourite piece of fabric if you want to include it.

Diane Wood is a political activist with the Carnegie Community Action Project, the February 14th Women’s Memorial March, and many other groups. She led the workshops, organized and implemented the creation of the Women’s Memorial Quilt, to recognize and honour our missing and murdered women, which is carried on the March on Feb.14 of each year in the Downtown Eastside Vancouver. Her fabric art has been exhibited in galleries in Montreal, Vancouver, and Ottawa’s National Gallery of Canada. Her graphic designs can be seen on posters, banners, T-shirts and leaflets around Vancouver.
