About this event
Create! Sundays are a new series of free, creative workshops led by local artists. Each workshop encourages exploration, connection and collaboration. They are meant to help develop your creative ideas in a playful and imaginative way. Open to all levels, all you have to bring is an open mind and a willingness to experiment. They are a wonderful chance to be creatively inspired, discover new processes and be in community with other artists.
Sunday January 29th
1:30 - 4:30 led by Saskia Jetten: Carving Stamps, Exploring Repeat
Join Natalie Grambow and Saskia Jetten in their ‘Art Lab’ workshops where they investigate creative processes. The morning workshop will guide you in mark-making, creating simple tools to paint and draw, and using found objects to make patterns of lines and textures on paper and cloth. The afternoon class will expand on this in an introduction to carving stamps, exploring repeat patterns as well as some simple bookbinding. You are encouraged to sign up for both classes or you are welcome to register for one of them. Just come and play with an open mind for unpredictability, experimentation and collaborative studies.
Saskia Jetten operates her studio and print shop in Halfmoon Bay and has extensive international teaching experience as art educator and instructor print media at university and college level. Saskia’s personal art is about human connections and breathes printmaking in her drawings, 2D prints, handmade books, installation and animation showcased internationally for over 30 years. Characteristic for her way of working is the constant quest for renewal and challenge in the use and concept of printmaking. Her print work and drawings are acknowledged by (inter)national grants and prizes.
