We will be using Spatial.chat - click on the link to try out their demo space.
Kai, who is our Spatial.chat event facilitator, recommends that you try out their demo space to see if your computer/laptop i/digital device is up to par to have the best experience beforehand. For User Tips and Recommendations, see the below info.
"That was so fun. At first it felt weird to not have to social distance from one another! I felt like we actually got to spend time with one another in the same room." - company holiday guest
"That was a lot of fun! I want to introduce this to our workplace,so we can have more fun than using Zoom." - private event guest
Tips for your optimal user experience:
1. Prepare a Profile Picture image file for when you log into the event space - to upload, this really helps people to recognize you in the event space when looking at it from birds-eye/zoom out view, instead of just seeing the first initial of your first name.
2. Please use headphones with a mic to interact. Otherwise, you’ll need to turn your speaker volume to low and turn off background music as all sounds will pick up and reverberate back into the virtual space, causing audio noise. There isn't background noise cancellation like that of Zoom, simply because this technology involves spatial audio.
3. Use your desktop computer or laptop for the best experience.
4. Close all other windows and apps (RAM or internet straining)
5. If you're not using headphones, please turn your speakers on low and move it away from your mic, as it will get picked up by your mic and cause feedback loops that can be very distracting for anyone around you in the virtual space.
6. Recommended system requirements for the best experience:
- 5 GHz WiFi or LAN-connected internet
- 30 MBit/s internet speed
- Google Chrome (ver. 85.0.4183.102) or Safari browser (ver. 13.1.2)
- A client device (computer or tablet) not older than 3 years
7. Which web browsers to use:
- Google Chrome — best experience
- Firefox — all versions until latest (83.0) — OK
- Microsoft Edge — generally OK
- Safari — versions 12.1-14.0.0 — OK, but 14.0.1 have issues
- Opera — OK
- If you use iOS, you should use Safari.
8. Minimum required settings:
- A computer not older than 5 years
- 10 Mbit/s internet speed
- Google Chrome, Safari or Firefox
- Known issues while using 2.4 GHz WiFi: Some users on 2.4 GHz WiFi internet connections might experience issues with video quality transfer when joining rooms with more than 20 participants. These issues are the result of 2.4 GHz WiFi technology not being able to successfully transfer 20+ simultaneous video streams from participants.
