About this event

How can we work together to create a culture of LGBTQ2S awareness in our businesses and community? Join WE-CAN special guest Stacey Love-Jolicoeur (she/her), founder of SAGA/LGBTQ Education Services of Canada Inc. to learn more.

In this 1-hour presentation, Stacey will share:

- A brief overview of LGBTQ2S history

- The difference between gender and sexuality

- A guide to helpful LGBTQ2S terms and definitions

- An examination of public consciousnesses and internalized biases around LGBTQ2S culture

- A guide to best practices to support members of the LGBTQ2S community

The session will end with a time for Q&A with Stacey.

NOTE: Attendees will be emailed a Zoom link to the online session by separate email prior to the event.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:

Stacey Love-Jolicoeur (she/her) is the founder of SAGA/LGBTQ2S Education and Support Services of Canada Inc. which provides prison support and education for 350+ members of the LGBTQ2S in 13 correctional facilities across Canada and seven halfway homes.

SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Acceptance) provides LGBTQ2S cultural competency training for prison staff, group facilitation, one-on-one peer support for LGBTQ2S prison inmates, post-op recovery support as well as a reintegration program for transgender offenders with a set release date.

As the coordinator for TRANSForum Quinte, Stacey helps educate and provide support for the Belleville transgender community. In her role as coordinator, Stacey facilitates the group as well as being an advocate and ally.

She also sits on the Inclusion Committee for the City of Belleville and is the 2021 Chair for Bay of Quinte Pride.

ABOUT THE WE-CAN PROJECT:

The WE-CAN Project is led by Queen’s University and supported by the Government of Canada. Its mission is to inspire and empower existing and aspiring women entrepreneurs by providing them with tools, resources, expert mentors, networks and community building to expand existing businesses and to launch new ventures.

The Government of Canada, through FedDev Ontario’s Women Entrepreneurship Strategy (WES) Ecosystem Fund is providing $3.2 million for Queen’s University to design and deliver programs and services to accelerate, train, mentor and provide resources to women entrepreneurs and women-led companies in the community.

The focus of the WES strategy is to provide support to women entrepreneurs from diverse and underrepresented groups.
