Cultural Awareness Training with George Couchie: Creating Understanding to Move Forward

Topics to be addressed:

· the history of the Aboriginal peoples within the province

· the impact of residential schools on Aboriginal communities

· treaty rights, Aboriginal rights, land claims, self-government, etc.

· awareness of the biases that may prevent effective communications

· recognizing challenges that First Nations communities face

· impact on Human Trafficking

· developing strategies to work cooperatively to address those issues
