Join us at Him & Her on March 18th at 3:30pm for an info session of what we are calling the Creative Capita of Canada Movement. We'll share our perspective, plans, and seek your ideas and energy.
CREATIVITY IS IN OUR DNA
In the past, Waterloo Region was a national success as a manufacturing centre. What was it about this community that gave birth to Hush Puppies, Crown Royal, artificial cattle insemination, Bauer Skates, The Blue Box, Home Hardware, BlackBerry, the University of Waterloo and a few Nobel Prizes?
Before invention, there was human creativity, collaboration and hard work. Creativity shouldn’t be confused with being exclusive to “the arts”. While creativity exists there, it also exists in everyone who chooses to look at a problem differently and diligently search for a better way.
Kaufman, Breithaupt, McCulloch, Krug, Bauer, and Lazaridis were creative and collaborative. Their ingenuity was enhanced by hundreds of creative people on shop floors and a community that found ways to support growth. This “creative chain reaction” explains why we have 15 patents granted per 10,000 residents, which is 11 times the national average!
We're Talking about a Celebration
The task ahead of us, and what we're asking you to participate in, is to publicly celebrate who we are through sharing stories, and working to unite the whole community behind the region's successes. There are two reasons why acknowledging and celebrating is important: what you celebrate you attract, and what you don't celebrate, you lose.
This is Grassroots
We're embarking on a grassroots social movement led by those who care about, and deeply understand, this community. It's not a task force or "initiative". It's about all of us sharing the stories that define what make Waterloo Region a uniquely collaborative, creative, and highly successful part of Canada.
