Everyone is welcome to join us for a drop-in exhibition hosted by The Social Impact Lab and United Way of Calgary and Area.
Calgarians are invited to take part in a fun and interactive event series to explore art for social change and social innovation in our city.
In partnership with Espresso Cafe (@espressocafeyyc), this Arts Expo will be a celebration of art, creativity, and social disruption. Come connect with different parts of the local arts and innovation worlds, engage your creative side by signing up for art workshops, and see live performances.
Tickets /registration is not necessary to attend the event.

Tilted Windmills is a creativity and mental health initiative dedicated to helping people create, discover and grow through workshops, one-on-one sessions, and content resources.

Artist Talks with MelVee from Trico Changemaker Studio
The Trico Changemakers Studio is a social innovation, collaboration and learning space at the intersection of campus and community. We bring together community stakeholders, students and faculty from across disciplines, sectors and backgrounds to tackle the complex social and environmental challenges of our time.

And there will be workshops to join and take part in, including:
Mental health benefits of painting with Athena Cooper 12:00-2:30pm co-founder of Tilted Windmills. A hands-on introduction to acrylic painting workshop. Participants will learn about the mental health benefits of painting as well as a technique for tracing a design onto a blank canvas, applying paint and blending colours.
Sketching with Zahra Entezari. 2:30-5:00pm An Iranian Visual Artist whose work is currently being exhibited in Arts Commons
Artist and muralist Adrianne Williams. A multidisciplinary artist, working with themes of urban culture and the individual. Her paintings, installations and video works explore her Caribbean ancestry, while often highlighting ideas of pop culture and culture clash. www.adriannewilliams.com
Live painting by Blackfoot muralist Kalum Dan. 12:00-5:00pm Their work is a visually striking, contemporary take on Indigenous culture and traditions, typically underscored by a sense of the spiritual.

The overlap between the socially engaged art world and social innovation is an often overlooked opportunity. Creative Constellations will explore how artists can use their work as a tool for change by creating sustainable solutions that serve local communities in need, while also engaging with them on new levels through creative expression.
