The Edmonton Police Service Crime and Trauma-Informed Support Services (formerly Victim Services Unit) offers court orientation classes for adults that will assist victims and witnesses in preparing for an upcoming trial or preliminary hearing.
Court Orientation and Mock Trial
This formal court orientation class will familiarize victims and witnesses with court procedures, explain courtroom personnel and their roles, and offer ways to cope with the fears and concerns that many people experience. As well, the class offers victims and witnesses the opportunity to observe and/or participate in a mock trial. Our hope is to make victims and witnesses feel more comfortable when testifying in court.
This class is held twice per month at 6:30pm. The duration of the class is approximately 2.5 hours. Pre-registration is required. Bringing a support person (family member or friend) is permitted. Pre-registration for your support person is NOT required.
The location is the University of Alberta Faculty of Law, Moot Court Room. 2nd Floor, 111 Street and 89 Avenue. There is no charge for parking.
