Event description

Description

Congratulations on your success in securing employment!

Many newcomers face an entirely new set of challenges when they begin to work in Canada: whether it is the expectations of your supervisor, your day-to-day interactions with colleagues, providing culturally appropriate customer service to your organization’s clientele, requesting and receiving feedback, demonstrating initiative on-the-job, or another of many internal workplace challenges, we are here to help!

We are organizing a Post Recruitment Workshop on November 16th, 2016. This workshop will give you the opportunity to hear about common challenges and successful resolutions, as well as to receive support to solve any unique challenges that you may be experiencing at work. Please be assured that your supervisor or manager does not know you are invited to this workshop, and that your confidentiality is respected.

Issues such as the following will be covered:

  • How to participate effectively in meetings
  • Learning the perceptions of your colleagues and supervisor
  • Specific strategies to assure that you receive the feedback you need from your supervisor
  • When and how to ‘take the initiative’
  • How to respond if you are not sure how to respond!
  • How to ask (the right kind of) questions

Light refreshment will be served.

Date: Tuesday, November 16th, 2016

Time: 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.

Place: 219 Argyle Avenue, 3rd Floor

This session will be facilitated by Lisa Anna Palmer.
