Pyromania III is CrossFit Pyro's 3rd annual fitness festival. This year, we're going partners, same sex, 3 divisions, 6 events over 3 days. 150$+tx per team, festivities starts Friday night at 6pm for 1 event, Saturday morning at 9am for event 2,3 and 4, Sunday at 9am for event 5, 6 and a final workout for the top 5 teams. This competition is for everyone, EVERYONE, with or without experience, any skill levels, the workouts are absolutely for everyone (Can't stress enough how this for everyone). How is this possible you ask? The magic is in the programming. It doesn't mean it's going to be easy, anybody can row, anybody can run, anybody can lift, the question is, how fast can you row, how fast can you run, how heavy can you lift? If you're looking for a fun, friendly competition, look no further. The male and female division is where it's at.

Have you been doing CrossFit for a couple years, can Rx (As prescribed) most benchmark workouts, can Rx most workouts daily at your affiliate, looking to compete against other athletes of your caliber? This year we're adding the Firebreathers division. The Firebreathers division is a throwback to the origins of CrossFit, the original Firebreathers, before CrossFit became a sport, before athletes would turn this into a career and do 6 workouts a day (not that there's anything wrong with this). This is for those that finish the workout on their back gasping for air, those that push their limits, for those that strive for elite fitness without making it a full time job. Essentially, this is not for Regionals or Games athletes. Expect the Firebreathers workouts to be just like the male/female division but with added spices, more advanced movements and heavier loads. Is the Firebreather division for you? You should be able to Rx most workouts at your box, Rx all if not most girl benchmarks and some hero workouts Rx as well. Not to give away any of the workouts but here are a few examples to clarify and to be more specific:

Amanda-squat snatch 135/95 and ring muscle ups. Cindy- 20min amrap pull ups, push ups, squats. Grace- 30 clean and jerk 135/95. Isabel- 30 snatch 135/95. Annie- double unders and sit ups. Diane- deadlift 225/155 and handstand push ups. Karen-150 wall balls 20/14. These are just a few examples so please refer to full benchmark list.

What about Masters? Enter the Masters 35+ division. Masters are experienced athletes, with lots of wods under their belts, they know how to pace, they know their capacity, they are some of the smartest athletes out there so this is why we're glad to announced that the workouts won't be altered. Instead, this is your ticket to compete against athletes in the same age group.

All in all, the divisions are to make sure that you get to compete with other athletes of your caliber. Casual, everyday warriors in the male/female division. More advanced or athletes that like to push a bit more in the Firebreathers Divisions. Masters 35+ is for everyone 35 years old or older.

There will be rewards for the top 3 teams in each division. Competiting is about the challenge, it's about pushing yourself, it's about doing things you never thought possible, it's about the community, it's about fun! No matter your skill level, you will get awesome workouts, you will grow as an athlete, you will grow as a person. Forget about what others do and the leaderboard, it's about you doing your best!

Now, what about the workouts? Well, in a true CrossFit fashion, be ready for the unknown and the unknownable, we won't be unveiling the workouts prior to the event. The workouts will be announced the day of the competition only, some workouts, like the finals in particular will be announced just minutes before. You're probably asking yourself, "What if I can't do some of the movements?" Don't worry about it, like we said before, this competiton is for absolutely everyone. Without spoiling anything, there will be running, swimming (that's right swimming), squats, burpees, box jumps (or step ups), skipping, weightlifting, you'll be carrying stuff around and more. See where this is going, we've been programming for a long time, we're already testing the workouts, this is going to be a great event for everyone regardless of your skill level. Lastly, don't be fooled, simpler movements or the fact that we program for everyone doesn't mean it's going to be easy. Ladders and putting more advance movements towards the end of a workout can easily make up for it, think of it just like the Open.
