Crown Photography & Film's Photography Business Workshop
Sat, 29 April 2017, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM MDT
We want to help you make 2017 the year that you take your photography business to the next level!
Come and grow with us as we discuss the importance of making photography an enjoyable experience for your clients, how to work with and pose couples, editing techniques to help your style shine through consistently and more.
This is a hands on workshop. We want you to bring your gear and come and shoot with us as we share some of the most important tips and tricks that have helped us build our business over the past five years.
We want to inspire you to step outside of your comfort zone and discover new ways of seeing your business grow!
I'm not a wedding photographer, will this workshop still help me?
ABSOLUTLY! While we love weddings and that is the main focus of our business, all of the material that we will cover will directly relate to any photography business that works with people. If you're a portrait photographer or a lifestyle/newborn photographer, etc. we would love to have you come!
However, if you are primarily a landscape or architechure photographer this course is probably not well suited for you.
What are some of the photography techniques that you plan to cover?
There isn't space here to summarize it all. But below is a bit of info about some of what we plan to cover.
We're assuming that as a photographer, you are comfortable with your camera and understand metering and exposure etc. so one of the things we're going to teach you are teqniques we've learned to help you photograph in different lighting scinarios (how to shoot in harsh daylight, how to use window light or other natural light sources to your advantage, what to do when there isn't any good light and you need to create the light yourself with flash etc.)
We'll also be talking about how we shoot for the edit. Which, to us means sometimes we under or overexpose an image on purpose because we know that it will make for a stronger edit in the finished gallery. To do this you need to have a very good handle on your editing and we're going to show you how we do it.
What are some of the business questions you plan to cover?
There is enough material to devote an entire day soley to the discussion of the business of photography. We won't go that in depth during the workshop. But we will stop and key in on the importance of attracting the right clients for your business. If you are constantly booking clients that clash with your style, photography isn't going to be very fun. But, when you are able to attract the right clients there is a level of joy and trust that come out. It's SO important!
Pricing your work, marketing your business and the ways that you communicate all have a significant effect on the type of client that you attract. We'll share with you how we have gone about presenting our business to attract the right clients for us. We'll share some of our mistakes along the way and hopefully you'll leave the workshop with a plan to find your target clients too.
