Description
Following some time for networking and dinner we will have a presentation by Bruce Jackson, formerly of WorkSafeBC and now the owner of Advocate Workplace Safety Services, on the evolving state of the OHS Profession.
Speaker Summary
During his 20-year tenure at WorkSafeBC Bruce Jackson worked in a variety of positions relating to workplace injury prevention. During the last seven years of his career he worked in the prevention quality assurance area, retiring from WorkSafeBC in June of 2017. Now, as the owner of Advocate Workplace Safety Services, Bruce provides workplace safety management and training services to industry.
In addition to a plethora of education in OHS supbjects, Operations Management, and Adult Education; Bruce is currently pursuing Master’s degrees in both human factors and health and safety risk managemen while actively supporting the health and safety profession by serving as a
- Member of CSSE’s National Outreach Committee
- Chairperson of BCRSP’s Lower Mainland Regional Screening Centre
- Chairperson of ASTTBC’s Construction Safety Officer Registration Board
Presentation Summary
The Evolution of the OH&S Profession
The OH&S profession is evolving. The recent adoption by major health and safety organizations to support a comprehensive capability framework for generalist health and safety professionals represents one of the most significant developments in the field in many years. This presentation will discuss how this and other related changes are likely to affect both current and future OH&S practitioners.
