We’ve never been more equipped to listen and respond to customers—and expectations have never been so high that brands should—and will—do just that.

Indeed, in a time when new products can be brought to market quicker than ever, it’s our customer relationships and the trust, value, and insights that make them, which are our competitive advantage.

Too many leaders, however, still underestimate the fundamental shifts required in how we collaborate, provide direction to our teams, and structure our organizations to deeply integrate this value, all while customer demands spiral.

Many have tried, at great expense to achieve greater levels of agility through IT solutions, investing in analytics, data, and digital efforts. While each of these capabilities delivers benefits, they fail to drive change because most large organizations are wired for an age of command and control, of isolated decision making and heavy, detailed plans which get pushed down to a staff of order takers.

The reality is, even an organization’s greatest ideas will die on the vine without the right organizational culture to support their fruition.

What if your organization was different? What if your team could learn and respond rapidly? Imagine an open flow of information, an incentive system that rewards experimentation and rapid-cycle learning, and a network of employees, customers, and partners motivated by shared purpose. Responsive not just in the marketing boilerplate of the annual report, but on a daily basis. In this immersive 1.5-day program, participants will discover how to build learning into the fabric of an organization. Together, we’ll uncover the operating procedures, interaction practices, and leadership tactics that are the new playbook for new-model organizations and the meaningful, enjoyable workplaces they create. We will:

  • Study and replicate the learning culture of high-performing companies

  • Create the conditions for teams to sense and respond to more effective work planning and changes to tools, systems, and processes

  • Learn how to incentivize, reward, and inspire individuals to demonstrate self-direction, entrepreneurial openness, experimentation, and transparent communication

  • Gain self-awareness as a team member and leader through greater empathy, humility, and mindfulness

Team design

Gain invaluable perspective by an understanding of your team’s stage of development. Promote self-sufficiency and maturity by making creativity and achievement cross-functional, and set a tone to maintain renewed energy.

Giving and receiving feedback

To make meaningful organizational improvements, get better at receiving and giving genuine feedback. Foster a culture of openness, trust, and shared discovery, in which individuals feel empowered to contribute their best and most honest innovation.

Failing forward

Surface best practices and repeatable principles to learn from failure. A growth mindset requires rigor and retrospection, with the free license given to those who experiment. When we learn the virtue of imperfect movement, we put an end to perfect paralysis. This is how innovation is given the space to begin.

Customer connection

It’s not just a matter of demonstrating good intentions to customers. Go further by sharing customer feedback to iterate better products more quickly. If your team can operationalize action from the good ideas of those who know you best—your customers—there is no better competitive advantage.

Empower the edges

Teams that learn together are inclusive and give every individual the power to shape the whole. What is the format for the 1.5 days?

We believe in interactive, practice-based learning over theory. In this learning environment, participants practice new skills on real-life topics and challenges coached by facilitation, leadership, and innovation practitioners.

We’ll use individual reflection, pairs discussion, and group exploration to keep energy high, including time for coffee and lunch. Day 1 will run from 8:30 AM—4:30 PM and Day 2 will run from 8:30 AM—12 noon.


Where will this experience take place?

This event will be hosted at The Home, an extraordinary space designed from the ground-up to foster big picture thinking and renew creativity.


Who will facilitate?

Erin Cooper, Agile Teaming Expert, Program Manager and Senior Client Advisor, and Sarah Dickinson, Experience Designer & Design Thinking leader, Co-Founder of THNK Vancouver will guide the experience.


What should we prepare or expect?

Come to the day well-rested, with distractions put aside. This will be an intense day of thinking, doing, discussion and reflection, and will require much energy. This a devices-off workshop—please bring us your full focus and attention. It will be worth it!

The price of your ticket includes a delicious catered lunch on Day 1. Sharing a meal together is our favourite way to connect and reflect on the day’s learning, share stories, and allow time for you to get to know your fellow participants.

Refund, cancellation, and transfer policies


Transfers

We understand that schedules can change and that despite a registrant’s best intentions they may not be able to attend a workshop. If a registrant is unable to attend the workshop an alternate delegate from the registrant’s company is welcome to attend in their place. Please let us know in advance the name of the person who will be attending on your behalf. If this is not done at least 24 hours prior to the program, they may not be guaranteed entry.

Cancellations

If a substitute cannot be found, we will accept cancellations and issue refunds under the following conditions: if we are notified of the cancellation on or before September 7, 2017, we will issue a full refund. If we are notified of the cancellation between September 7 and September 15 (inclusive), we will issue a 50% refund. No refunds will be issued after September 15, 2017.

Other Policies

If THNK School of Creative Leadership Ltd. cancels the workshop for any reason, all registration fees will be fully refunded. Registration fees will be fully refunded if the registrant cancels prior to September 7, 2017. No refunds will be provided if the registrant cancels after the cancellation deadline (September 15, 2017) or is a “no show” at the workshop. If the registrant cancels after September 7 but on or before September 15, half of the registration fees will be refunded.
