Cutting Edge Governance-A Conversation w SPPG & The Institute on Governance
Event Information
Description
Governance is not static; it evolves and innovates over time and across jurisdictions. To capture the leading edge of this innovation, the Institute on Governance has analyzed eight cutting edge approaches to governance in the public sector. These eight governance approaches range from municipal level governance, all the way to supra-national governance approaches. The key factors in all of these cutting edge governance approaches are: an increase in partnerships with multiple stakeholders (public and private sectors, non-profits and citizens); willingness to experiment with aggregation or devolution of organizations, and; a focus on the governance arrangements providing better outcomes for citizens.
Speakers:
Mel Cappe; Professor at the School of Public Policy & Governance, former President of the Institute for Research on Public Policy.
Todd Cain; VP Board and Organizational Governance, Institute on Governance
Janet Mason; Assistant Deputy Minister, Planning and Research, and Strategy and Results, Cabinet Office, Government of Ontario.
Phil Triadafilopoulos: Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Toronto.
Moderator: Mark Stabile, Director of the School of Public Policy & Governance and Professor of Economics and Public Policy & the Rotman School of Management.
