Welcome to the 3-day CVMA-SBCV Chapter Fall Conference and Trade Show on November 3, 4 and 5, 2017. Immediately below is all the information you need to know about logistics, and below that is a description of the educational sessions with corresponding dates and times. PLEASE NOTE: There is a separate ticket for each day, so to attend the entire Conference requires you to buy three tickets within your one order form. You can choose to attend any one, any two, or all three days simply by clicking on your choice of days.

CVMA-SBCV Chapter members enjoy a 50% discount as a benefit of membership. All sessions are open to Veterinarians, RVTs, AHTs, and clinic or hospital staff. Members who own clinics are entitled to the 50% discount for their non-veterinarian staff who attend the Conference.

We are fortunate to have as our speakers Dr. Miranda Sadar from Colorado speaking about Exotics; Dr. Shea Cox from California speaking about Managing Chronic Pain in the Geriatric Patient; Dr. Kathleen Cooney from Colorado speaking about Understanding Hospice and Palliative Care; Dr. Marco Cervi from Vancouver speaking about Thoracic and Pelvic Limb Lameness, and Surgery; and Dr. David Lane from Squamish speaking about Orthopedic Conditions, Rehabilitation, and Non-Surgical Options.

All events are held at the Pinnacle Harbourfront Hotel at 1133 West Hastings Street in Vancouver. The Registration Desk and all Trade Show activities, refreshments, and meals will be in the Pinnacle Harbourfront Ballroom (second level). All Educational Sessions will be held in the Cordova Ballroom (street level). Price includes admission into the Trade Show, the Trade Show Reception, and all refreshments and lunches.

When the Exotic Pet is an Occasional Patient – Dr. Miranda Sadar

For veterinarians who see ZCA patients on occasion and want to expand their knowledge and ability to examine these species more comfortably, Dr. Sadar will focus on common disease presentations in several mammalian, avian, and reptile species, as well as diagnostics and treatment plans for these presentations.

Hospice care is rooted in physical and emotional support of our pet patients and emotional support of their caregivers. Diagnosing Thoracic and Pelvic Limb Lameness – Dr. Marco Cervi

This session will be specifically about the physical exam, diagnostic plan, and differential diagnoses for both thoracic and pelvic limb lameness.

Surgical Treatment of Thoracic and Pelvic Limb Lameness - Dr. Marco Cervi

Dr. Cervi explains the treatment of each of these specific conditions as well as stifle/CCL disease or elbow disease.

Canine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation: “That’s a thing?” – Dr. David Lane

Dr. Lane will explain what canine rehab is and which patients benefit the most, as well as review the evidence for rethinking how we care for our post-surgical and geriatric patients, as well as discussing non-surgical options for common orthopedic conditions.

10+ Tricks to Improve your Musculoskeletal Exam – Dr. David Lane

Dr. Lane will offer some tricks to increase the precision of your soft tissue diagnosis, and discuss the current treatment options for common musculotendinous conditions.
