Event description

Description

Depending on the type of job opportunity, you may be required to submit a Curriculum Vitae (CV) or a resume. The general rule of thumb is that when you're on the academic job market a CV is required, whereas a resume is better suited for positions outside academia. Regardless of the role you plan to apply for, understanding the function and key differences between these two documents will be essential to your successfully navigating the job market. After learning about the difference between the two documents as well as best practices, you will learn how to develop your personal brand, write strong accomplishment statements and effectively translate your skills to future employers. We will conclude by exploring strategies for converting your academic CV into a non-academic resume.
