There are many secure software engineering techniques that could be used to improve the security posture of software while it is being developed. The workshop aims to help the software development team leads and managers to better understand the steps that their organization can take while they are developing any new software or enhancing old ones to make them more secure.

Completing this workshop will provide the following knowledge and skills to the participants:

(1) An understanding of secure software

(2) An understanding of the differences between incorporating security form the beginning, deferring to resolve security issues in the end, and depending on third party tools to detect/counter intrusions.

(3) Understanding the costs involved in making a software secure while developing it and the potential savings it this path is not followed

(4) Understanding the ease of use of the techniques, mechanisms, and tools needed to develop a secure software.
