Event Details

Cybermentor invites you to an important celebration... The Year-End Fusion Event 2017!

Join us to celebrate the conclusion of another great mentoring season! Enjoy a fun and educational STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) workshops, Planetarium Live Show,  guest speakers, and a reception lunch.

Last year, participants designed and built LED thundercloud Umbrella's. This year we will create outer-space themed LED umbrellas. We will have the opportunity to showcase our science, engineering and art creations at Beakernight 2017!

10:00 am:

Welcome and introduction followed by a Women in STEM panel. Parents are welcome to attend this portion of the event. 

11:00 am:

Snack Break

11:15 am:

Design and build your own space themed umbrella! We will showcase these STEAM creations at Beakernight in September! 

1:00 pm:

Networking lunch

2:00 pm:

Planetarium Live Show

3:00 pm:

Where do I go in TELUS Spark? Where do I park? The Fusion Event 2017 event is being held at TELUS Spark Science Centre. Registration will be set up in the atrium. You will require a parking code that will be provided once you are registered. 

Is there a cost to enter, or for parking? Nope! There are no costs for registration or parking. Parking instructions for TELUS Spark will be emailed.


What is the dress code?  Please wear comfortable clothing with closed toed shoes. Participation in the lunch-time soldering workshop required pants (covered legs) and closed toed shoes. 


 What time will the remarks begin? When does the event end? The event begins at 10:00am for the girls participating in the design activity.  The event will end at 3:00pm. 


Can my dad, or other male guests, attend this event? Absolutely - we value everyone who is interested in inspiring girls in science and engineering. There are lots of great ways for men to be involved, too! Please invite them to the morning panel to learn more about careers in STEM!

Is my registration/ticket transferrable? Sure! We may not have a nametag ready for you, but you are absolutely welcome to attend in place of someone else.


Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No, just your name

Cybermentor is a free online mentoring program that inspires girls in science and engineering. Girls in grades 6 – 12 across Alberta are matched with professional female scientists and engineers. By building a relationship with a successful female role model, girls discover new career paths in science, technology, engineering, and math, and become motivated to stay in science and math courses in school.
