Do It In Durham is a series of events taking place in the Region of Durham from 14 - 18 November, 2016. This series is in celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week. In Durham we have over 30 events happening to celebrate, inspire and motivate entrepreneurship as well as to bring together our business community. Every event is an opportunity to network and grow your business and your knowledge. There is a rich eco-system of support, funding and entrepreneurial resources for businesses.
Small businesses have become a massive target for cyber-crime as they do not have the proper strategies in place to protect themselves and their data. Over the last 5 years businesses from different industries are closing down due to these crimes affecting their day to day operations due to data loss. This workshop will discuss the cause and effect of not protecting your business from attack and demonstrate some strategies to better enhance your business from outside threats. Understanding the global threat is rising and small businesses have to protect themselves.

About the Presenter:
Darnley started Darn IT Consulting in 2012 as part-time while working a full time job. After clients justified leaving fulltime job at UofT, been working since and incorporated the business in 2014. Passionate about all things technology, educating others, and helping those who do not understand technology.
Darnley has done various contract jobs for: financial institutions(Deloitte Canada), Small Businesses, Hospitals (Princess Margret Hospital), Universities (University of Toronto), and Intelligence Agencies (Canadian Security Intelligence Service - CSIS). His diverse background makes him a great asset in this ever changing technical environment.
