Join Neil Zeller Photography for a multi discipline photography workshop at Cypress Hills, Saskatchewan on May 26-28, 2017.
Focusing on the natural surroundings and the expansive skies and views found in and around the Cypress Hills in Saskatcehwan, you will be immersed in a photo experience that will elevate your photography.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced photographers alike. Experience in manual camera mode and Lightroom editing software is considered an asset. I have beginner classes available prior to this class that will help you get the most out of this workshop. Check my profile link below for addtional classes.
Our shooting opportunities will focus our cameras on:
- Night skies
- sunrise and sunset
- flora and fauna
- Storm photography (weather permitting)
- Aurora (Aurora permitting)
Our locations and shooting modules will depend on the skies and the weather. The modules will loosely be based around 2 sunset/evening/nightsky shoots, a sunrise shoot, and 2 daytime field trips exploring the unique and incredible landscapes within the Cypress Hills.
On Saturday May 27, from 11am to 5pm, we are in the meeting center of the Cypress Hills Resort for an intensive editing session to help you get the most out of your images. The session willl largely consist of night sky photo editing with examples of single image, panoramic and star trail editing.Your own laptop is required for this session.
A tentative schedule would include:
- Friday May 26 - Arrive at the Resort by 4pm, settle in, then intensive shooting of day, evening and night, finishing around 2am
- Saturday - 11am- 5pm editing class
- Saturday evening, in park field trip with bird and wildlife and expansive views as targets, then sunset and night photography until 1am
- Sunday morning, sunrise for the early risers, in park landscape field trip starting at 9am until 11am checkout.
Software to consider for this class are Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop (Creative Cloud membership highly recommended) , Microsoft ICE, StarStax, Photomatix Pro. I will email all registered atendees with a list and more detailed advice on the software as we get closer to the workshop.
This class is suited for DSLR cameras, and mirroless systems with manual settings are welcome as well. Tripods, cable release, wide and long lenses, are all beneficial to this workshop.
Your registration fee is for the workshop portion only and does not include lodging, meals or transportation. While we are travelling in our vehicles within the park to get to our locations, we won't be traveling more than a few kms at a time (unless we choose to travel further to reach more clear skies in the event of overcast nights). I am happy to help arrange carpools once we are at the park. Cypress Hills Resort is a 400km drive from Calgary travelling almost exclusively on the Trans Canada Highway.
