Description
The final production of Mortar & Pestle's 2nd Season; Damnée Manon, Sacrée Sandra, written by Michel Tremblay and translated by John Van Burek, examines the sacred and the profane. Their similarities and differences; how they merge and become one another. The play consists of two interweaving monologues on religion and sex spoken by Manon and Sandra, both trying to escape their own realities in their unique way. Sandra behind the masks of characters she has created, using sex and vulgarity as her shield. Manon using religion to deflect responsibility over her own life. The play is vulnerable, shocking, funny and raw, the revelation of what can happen when we spend our lives running from our fears and our own reflections.
