Having Attended Several Educational Institutions [Detroit Society of Arts & Crafts, now CCS, and Wayne State University In Michigan, and then Carleton in Ottawa], and having stayed connected to drawing and painting - while also learning about 2 and 3 dimensional computer graphics and animation, Dan Philips progressed from representational art work into some sort of this-century hybrid.

Not Just mixed media [being combinations of drawing, collage, photography, montage, painting and sculptural assemblage ] but becoming more and more obsessed with the intentional 3 dimensional distortion and intrusion - right into our viewing space - right into our lives.

The subject matters has also evolved - most recently emphasizing just WHO WE ARE, we humans who continue to change - but also continue to cause ourselves so much difficulty.
