Event description
Dare to Lead™ Two-Day Program

About this Event

Ten organizational problems have been identified in Dr. Brené Brown’s newest work, Dare to Lead. These challenges, Dr. Brown says, are like “termites in the walls of our culture, we can’t see them, but they are eating the good out of our organization.” Signs of culture erosion from her research include: perfectionism, gossiping, bullying and blaming, to name a few.

The Colbourne Institute for Inclusive Leadership is pleased to welcome back Laurie Hillis, Certified Dare to Lead Facilitator to lead two days of reflection, dialogue and learning as you develop the leadership and coaching tools to support healthy cultures, and to identify and courageously address those behavior and challenges that erode culture. In this workshop, you’ll experience the 16-hour curriculum, have intimate conversations with a group of committed learners on this journey and make a plan to apply the concepts in your life- personally and professionally.

You will also receive a Dare to Lead Trained certificate and badge at the conclusion of the two days. Dare to Lead Trained individuals are personally familiar with the skills and tools for use in their own work situations and relationships and they have been trained by a Certified Dare to Lead Facilitator. You will also be eligible to add the Dare to Lead Trained Badge to your LinkedIn profile.

Dr. Brené Brown, a research professor at the University of Houston and four-time New York Times best-selling author, spent years researching leadership and organizational cultures. She interviewed 150 global C-suite level executives on the future of leadership, asking: “What, if anything, about the way people are leading today needs to change in order for leaders to be successful in a complex, rapidly changing environment?” Brené wrote in her 2018 book Dare to Lead, “There was one answer across the interviews: We need braver leaders and more courageous cultures.”

Based on her research, Brené developed Dare to Lead – an empirically based courage-building program. It’s a game-changer for leaders at all levels. Dare to Lead includes facilitation, self-reflection, practical activities, and short videos hosted by Brené on the four teachable, observable, and measurable courage skill sets:

• Rumbling with Vulnerability: Facing risk, uncertainty, and emotional exposure with courage and clarity.

• Living into our Values: Identifying, operationalizing, and practicing the beliefs that we hold most important.

• BRAVING Trust: Creating or deepening connections in relationships and teams based on the seven elements of trust.

• Learning to Rise: Learning and growing from the failures, setbacks, and disappointments that are inevitable when we are brave with our lives.

Please note you must attend both days of the program to receive this certificate.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Please notify icinfo@norquest.ca if you have any food restrictions or allergies.
