Event description
Is Shaping a Courageous Culture Important to Your Organization?

About this Event

Ten organizational problems have been identified in Dr. Brené Brown’s newest research.

These problems lead to erosion of culture and include:

• Not having hard conversations

• Tolerating poor performance

• Or, as she states metaphorically, it’s like “termites are in the walls of our culture, we can’t see them, but they are eating the good out of our organizations”.

Some of the signs of culture erosion include perfectionism, gossiping, comparison, bullying and blaming.

Is it time to reflect on your leadership approach? Do you want to gain new practical tools to support healthy cultures, developing other leaders along the way?

Informed with over 400,000 pieces of data and decades of working with all types of organizations, this is a program that teaches learnable and translatable skills.

In this work we define leaders as: “Anyone who takes responsibility for finding the potential in people and processes and who has the courage to develop that potential.”

Session Outcomes:

• Recognize the four essential skill sets for courageous leadership which are 100% teachable, observable and measurable

• Understand the role of courage and vulnerability in daring leadership

• Know your values and maintain alignment to your values

• Build trust with colleagues, resulting in more psychological safety in the workplace

• Learn the critical role that emotional literacy plays in developing leadership skills

• Know 16 ways we ‘armour’ ourselves to deal with fear - how to be on guard against these barriers to daring and courageous leadership

• Explore our leadership strengths and growth areas - who we are is how we lead

• Learn to increase trust by practicing empathy and connection

• Build skills to stay in tough conversations when you want to tap out

• Discuss how to scale daring leadership and courageous teams

• Develop skills and practices to reset after setbacks, failures and disappointments

You’ll experience the 16-hour curriculum, have intimate conversations with a group of committed learners on this journey and make a plan to apply the concepts in your life – personally and professionally.

Also, you’ll receive a Dare to Lead™ Trained Certificate and Badge at the conclusion of the two days. Dare to Lead™ Trained individuals are personally familiar with the skills and tools for use in their own work situations and relationships and they have been trained by a Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator. You will also be eligible to add the Dare to Lead™ Trained Badge to your LinkedIn profile. Please note you’ll need to attend both days of the program to receive this Certificate.

More About the Dare To Lead™ Program

Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to Lead™ is designed to be facilitated by organizational development professionals.

Brené is a research professor at the University of Houston where she holds the Huffington Foundation – Brené Brown Endowed Chair at The Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy, and most recently completed a seven-year study on courageous leadership. She is the author of five #1 New York Times bestsellers: The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, Rising Strong, Braving the Wilderness, and Dare to Lead, which also debuted at #1 on The Wall Street Journal and Publisher’s Weekly lists.

The most significant finding from Brené’s latest research is that courage is a collection of four skill sets that are teachable, measurable, and observable. Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitators focus on developing these courage-building skills through workshops, trainings, and coaching to help individuals, teams, and organizations move from armoured leadership to daring leadership.
