Data Science for Marine Biologists: Afternoon Session
Date and time
Location
Online event
For girls+ ages 15 - 18 who live in Atlantic Canada, this workshop will introduce how data science is used in marine biology!
About this event
This workshop will introduce how data science, including a method called "machine learning", is used in marine biology. We’ll use real coastal shark and yellow ray data from our friends at Field School in Miami, Florida, to learn about different applications of machine learning in marine conservation research, and do some simple coding of statistics in the programming language R. We’ll also talk about careers in machine learning and marine biology! This workshop will be led by our Terranaut Club President and resident coding expert Danielle Quinn.
No prior knowledge needed! 10 seats. 3 hours including a 15 minute break.
This workshop is also being offered on Sunday, December 12th, from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. See our organization's Eventbrite page for the event listing.
