Event description

Description

Please join us on Tuesday March 10 for the book launch of “Who are these people and why are they yelling at me? The art and science of managing large, angry public meetings”, by Dave Hardy (BA ’75, MES ’78). Hardy believes that there are many paths to environmental sustainability. Not everyone agrees on the best path, sometimes tough decisions are required, and people become upset. The integrity of the public engagement process is important, but when large angry meetings are inevitable, how do professional facilitators foster positive outcomes?

In this newly published book Hardy shares his learnings in faciliating large public meetings. He take an in depth dive at the four red flags that signal potential controversy and seven principles organizations use to successfully engage the public. He is president at Hardy Stevenson and Associates Limited, a Registered Professional Planner and formally a trained facilitator. He’s facilitated over 1,600 public meetings and workshops and has worked for most regions and municipalities in the GTA.

The event will be hosted by award-winning journalist Dave Trafford and feature a talk by Hardy followed by a reception.

Trafford is a career broadcaster and podcast producer. He is the Executive Producer of iContact Productions and currently hosts the Weekend Morning Show on Newstalk 1010 in Toronto.
