Event description

Description

Our democracy is a trainwreck. Our elections feel hollow and our legislatures have become toxic. Fierce partisanship, centralized power, distorted election results and rigged systems all contribute to our growing cynicism.

And yet, activist and community activist Dave Meslin thinks we can fix it.

Come to a discussion with Dave Meslin about his new book, Teardown: Rebuilding Democracy From the Ground Up, on how we can take back our democracy.

Hosted by Buzzfeed News editor Elamin Abdelmahmoud.

This event is part of our #OnCivilSociety series.

This event is FREE, but you must register to attend. Tickets will become available on Thursday, May 2nd at 9 am.

***

Please don't print your tickets! We're trying to reduce paper waste for Salon events, so please don't bother printing your ticket. We'll either either scan your ticket on your smartphone or quickly find your name on our tablets and check you in.

Arrive early, meet people. The talk starts at 7pm, but doors open at 6pm, so come early so you can chat with some of your fellow literature lovers, and make new friends. As with all Salon events, we'll have a full bar with a selection of beers, wine, and liquor, as well as sandwiches and snacks.
