Event description

Description

In this practice day, we will look at our present-moment experience through the lens of the five dimensions of experience, also known as the khandas. The day will feature a mix of guided meditation, silent sitting and walking meditation, and q&a. There will also be some opportunities for one-on-one practice discussions with the teacher. We will end with tea and conversation.

This daylong is a chance for you to dig deeper into your practice, and is suitable for people who already have some meditation experience.

Please plan to be ready to start at 9:30 and to stay until 3:30. Email rachel@bcims.org for more information.

This venue is fully wheelchair accessible. This event is being held on unceded Coast Salish land.

Led by Rachel Lewis. Rachel completed Spirit Rock's Community Dharma Leader program in 2012, as well as its Dedicated Practitioners Program in 2010. She began retreat teacher training at IMS in 2017. She has spent over 450 nights on silent retreat since 2003, including two 3-month retreats. She has taught at Alouette Correctional Centre for Women and in Vancouver and area since 2011, as well as via her alter egos Buddhist Hulk and Bhante Mixalot. Rachel’s day job at VCH is only barely related to her physics PhD. Her interest in bringing music into meditation practice led her to develop a songbook of Buddhist music for choirs. She also maintains BCIMS' Facebook page.
