OPTI’s DBT Eating Disorders Advanced workshop is a 12-hour online continuing education workshop designed for healthcare providers with foundational training in both Eating Disorders (ED) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). This training is designed to take a deeper dive into questions that commonly arise during the application of DBT for ED, especially the complex nature of ED treatment, when clinicians may feel "stuck" or unsure how best to proceed with complicated cases. Through didactic presentation, case studies, role-plays, and practice exercises, participants will have an opportunity to interactively learn, ask questions and consult, as well as discuss challenging cases during the workshop.

This workshop assumes that participants work in the mental health field, have experience with basic Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and are familiar with eating disorders in a clinical setting. It is expected that participants will have the resources and experience to reflect on complex case presentations in both the DBT modality and the eating disorder context.

At the end of this training, participants will be able to:

1. Identify the 6 DBT dialectical dilemmas in the ED context and build collaborative case conceptualizations

2. Gain further insight into the use of the target hierarchy with complex cases

3. Develop DBT strategies to manage weight goals, medical risk, food tracking, and the weighing of patients

4. Describe specific DBT skills and interventions to target body image disturbances
