인종차별을 말하다 1부: 차별의 이해 Dealing with Racism – Part I: Concepts

This first of the two-part webinar will be offered by Young In Kim, a registered social worker at Calgary Catholic Immigration Society, supporting immigrants and refugees coming to Canada, focusing on the concept of racism and how to identify it.

이 세션은 캘거리 카톨릭이민자협회에서 사회복지사로서 캐나다로 이주하는 이민자들과 난민들을 위해 일하고 있는 김영인 강사님께서 강의를 해주실 예정입니다. 인종차별에 관한 이야기이며, 모두 두 파트로 구성되어있고 첫번째 파트에서는 ‘인종차별에 대한 이해’를 다룰 것입니다.

About this Event

This session will present information on what constitutes racism, where racism is found and why racism is still present. Although there are laws in Canada protecting the equal rights and equal treatment of all individuals, there are still racist acts perpetrated by individuals and groups of people, and sometimes the system itself.

이 세션에서는 인종차별은 무엇으로 구성되는 지, 어디에서 빈번하게 이루어지는 지, 왜 여전히 존재하는 지에 관하여 이야기 합니다. 캐나다에서는 개인의 평등한 권리 및 평등한 대우를 받을 권리에 대해 법으로 분명하게 보호하고 있습니다. 하지만 현실적으로는 개인이나 단체 그리고 가끔은 제도 차원에서 여전히 차별이 이루어지고 있음을 발견할 수 있습니다.

We will also briefly examine the status of foreigners in South Korea, a largely mono-ethnic population where these groups are treated differently from South Koreans. We will explore the concept of stereotypes and discrimination, what they are and where they come from, as well as why they are still perpetrated.

또한 오랫동안 단일민족을 이루어 온 한국사람들에게서 행해지는 한국에서의 외국인에 대한 차별도 다룹니다. 그 외에 이와 관련된 고정 관념, 차별과 같은 편견들이 어디서 오는 지에 대해서도 함께 이야기합니다.
