Event description
Join us for a tour of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama with scientist Eileen Haskett!

About this Event

Biologist and educator Eileen Haskett will take us on a tour of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama and talk about her research studying sea urchins!

What is a Deep Dive?

Deep Dives are 1 hour interactive presentations from womxn in Science, Engineering, Technology, and Math (STEM) about their research and experiences, followed by a question and answer period!

This event is FREE, but parents and guardians are encouraged to support our organization if they can, either through a donation on our website, or through our current Sticker & Magnet Fundraiser.

Who can attend?

To join in this Deep Dive, participants must be girls or gender minorities aged 12 - 18 and reside in Atlantic Canada.

To ensure that girls across Atlantic Canada have the opportunity to participate in our summer programs, we ask that each person attends a maximum of three of our 2020 Online Summer Series programs (not including reunions). Those who attend and participate in three programs (including reunions) will also receive a special reward!

About our Guest Speaker

We'll add more information about our guest speaker as we get closer to the date of the event - stay tuned!

About Terranaut Club

Terranaut Club is a non-profit organization based in Nova Scotia that offers science and nature exploration programs for girls and gender minorities at highly subsidized rates. We specifically aim to work with participants from underprivileged and/or underrepresented backgrounds, and our mission is to encourage them to pursue STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) careers, and to become environmental leaders in their own communities.

We were forced to postpone our signature hands-on summer programs until 2021, so we've developed our first "Online Summer Series" to create opportunities for us to engage with our amazing participants!

Let's get through this strange summer together!
