Deep Dives pulls you up close for in-depth conversations with extraordinary women. In this session, host Virginia Weiler will lead a conversation on the topic of leadership with Jessie Adcock, the City of Vancouver's Chief Technology Officer, followed by a conversation with Paulette Senior, president and CEO of the Canadian Women's Foundation. Q&A and discussion will follow.

VIRGINIA WEILER - HOST
Virginia Weiler is a business consultant experienced in micro- and conservation-based finance. She lived in Africa for several years structuring innovative financing programs to scale up the fight against HIV/AIDS. She now helps small businesses and non-profits build their financial, strategic and governance capacity. Virginia serves on the board of Vancity Credit Union (as board chair 2011-14), the Museum of Vancouver, and other local boards. In 2014, Virginia received the Association of Women in Finance Community Legacy PEAK award. She is certified corporate director (ICD.D) with an MBA from University of Victoria and BA from Boston College. She loves skiing and biking with her family.
JESSIE ADCOCK
Jessie Adcock is currently the City of Vancouver’s Chief Technology Officer, having stepped into the role after a successful 3 years as the City’s first Chief Digital Officer. As one of the first public sector CDO’s in Canada, Jessie led the execution of a multi-year digital strategy focused on the growth of direct channels; enhancing citizen services and engagement; improving the City’s data and technology infrastructure; enabling a digital more digital workforce; and helping create opportunity for the innovation economy. She is now leading the City’s wider technology transformation as it navigates the era of Smart City technologies driven by IoT, Mobility, Data and Cloud. Prior to transitioning into public sector in 2013, she held global roles on IT, marketing and digital teams, working in the FI and Telecom sectors, developing and implementing digital strategies, leading innovation and application development, and managing direct customer channels for consumer and business markets.
PAULETTE SENIOR
Paulette Senior has devoted her career to empowering women and girls to overcome barriers and reach their full potential. She is president and CEO of the Canadian Women’s Foundation and a former CEO of YWCA Canada. Working with all levels of government, she has advocated on issues related to poverty, housing, violence against women, immigration and social justice. She has led, managed and operated shelters, employment programs and housing programs at organizations such as Yellow Brick House, YWCA Toronto, the Macaulay Child Development Centre, the Lawrence Heights Community Health Centre, and Central Neighbourhood House. She currently sits on the board of directors of the Women’s Funding Network and is former board chair at Women’s College Hospital. Paulette has received several awards including the African Canadian Achievement Award, the Afroglobal Leadership award, the Black Women Civic Engagement award, the MicroSkills Margot Franssen Leadership Award and the Woman of Influence citation.
