Deepening Community Connections
Event Information
Description
Join the Sunshine Coast Conservation Association for our first annual Deepening Community Connections Environmental Conference!
If you work or volunteer in the local environmental and/or sustainability movement, or are looking to get more involved in local initiatives and groups, this conference is for you!
Share about your projects, mission and ideas, learn about what other organizations are doing, and best of all, enjoy the opportunity to get to know each other so that together, we can nurture a strong, connected and empowered community. There are limitless opportunities for cooperation and mutual support!
Featuring keynote speaker, Richard Kool, professor in the School of Environment and Sustainability at Royal Roads University, the conference will include:
-
Pecha Kucha presentations by the Sunshine Coast Community Solar Association and other local organizations/projects
-
'Appreciative Inquiry' activities and group discussion sessions
-
'Speed Dating' for volunteers and organizations
-
Gallery of group display booths (with option of leaving up for the evening's Celebration of Conservation fundraising dance)
The SCCA is excited to present this inaugural event, as we believe that by increasing opportunities to communicate, share resources, learn together and collaborate together, we will build a more connected, ecologically conscious, and resilient community; able to respond to the critical environmental issues of our times.
This conference is offered free to representatives of local organizations and volunteers. Refreshments will be served. Participants are encouraged to bring a food item to share for the potluck lunch. We also encourage ride-sharing ... visit the new Share-There website to offer or request a ride.
