MARK MALIBU & the WASAGAS: Canada's original Surf Punk Instrumentalists existing from 1979-1982. Veterans of Toronto’s legendary punk dives like the Turning Point, Larry's Hideaway, Cabana Room; the band performed with many new-wave and punk bands confusing audiences everywhere by playing surf instrumental music when clubs wanted Black Sabbath, Black Flag or .... any other band wearing black clothes with vocals.
The band reunited in 2014; and since then a retro-fitted Wasagas have released three full length LPs "Return of the Wasagas", "Crash Monster Beach", and most recently "Dance Party a' Go Go" which reached #1 in the international Surf Music charts.
Surf’s Up Again!
DEF CON SOUND SYSTEM: Def Con Sound System is the experimental musical project of Toronto-based, Juno Award winning musician Adam Sewell.
Sewell has recently released the debut Def Con Sound System album titled ‘Silver Bullets’. Co-produced by Sewell, and Jon Drew (Arkells, Tokyo Police Club, Fucked Up), the album was conceived, and written as a fictional movie soundtrack compilation album which borrows from Sewell's love of '60s and '70s Spy film soundtracks, The Clash, trip hop, electronic music, reggae, and punk.
This performance also marks Sewell’s first live performance in over 7 years.
CHRISTIAN and the SINNERS: Christian DeArmond doesn’t seem to give a toss what tags critics use to describe the music that his band, Christian D & the Hangovers, makes.
With a style that looks to The Cramps, Nick Cave and Elvis, The Hangovers belt out distorted, punky rockabilly on record and on stage as if their lives depended on it.
