Description

Bikram Yoga is a series of 26 beginner's postures and 2 breathing exercises performed in sequence in a heated room for 90 minutes. Bikram Yoga is suitable for all ages and levels of ability. Each posture stretches, strengthens, and prepares the body to work every muscle, organ, gland, and cell in the perfect order, while circulating 100% fresh oxygen through the blood. The result is a natural full-body exercise that returns the body to a balanced state.

BikramYoga was developed by Yogiraj Bikram Choudhury after an injury to his knee during a weight-lifting accident. With the guidance of his guru, Bikram created his 26 posture series, which restored his health.

Bikram scientifically designed the series to promote weight loss, prevent illness, and limit the effects of aging. Yoga also builds energy, stamina, and flexibility. It incorporates challenge, gravity, balance, strength, and most importantly, the tourniquet effect. The Bikram technique allows for stretching, squeezing, and massaging of the internal organs, flushing out the lymphatic system, and stimulating the endocrine and nervous system to release any deficient hormones and enzymes. The body is self-regulating and self-adjusting. In addition, the series of postures combines skills of concentration, patience, determination and self-control, which lead to increased mental clarity and reduced stress.

HOW TO PREPARE

  • Come to class on an empty stomach. Refrain from eating 3 hours prior to class time.
  • Be well hydrated. Always drink plenty of water, especially before your first class
  • All classes are beginner classes, so no prior experience is necessary. Everyone starts as an absolute beginner

  • A yoga mat
  • A large towel
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Mat/towel rentals are available for $2 per item
  • We do sell the best hot yoga mats and towels made specifically for hot yoga
  • Come with an open mind and positive attitude

15 regular members and many visitors come to our regular workouts. Be ready to sweat and learn about Yoga.

There is $20 charge that you can pay at the door.
